The Tooth Fairy

The arrival of the Tooth Fairy is a highly anticipated event in my household. Her onset begins with the wiggling of said tooth and continues on to the eventual wait of the Big Loss. What is considered to be an issue of maturity from milk(baby) teeth to adult teeth, is now dramatised and given monetary value.
With three kids, I am now guessing we will be having a stage of loosetooth- hanging by a thread- and the great fall as a way of life. My four and a half year old comes to me the other day saying Mamma I think my tooth is loose and when will I see the Great One.

When I think about it, I wonder who in the West came up with these, conspiracy against the parents, type of imaginary beings. Santa Claus leads the list followed by the Easter Bunny, the Tooth fairy and I don't know who else in not any particular order. So I leave it to these fictionary characters to continue humoring my kids and sincerly hope they arrive in time to fulfill their much anticipated role in this world.

All this starts with my oldest wiggling her canine a week ago & lo and behold its out while in the car today with a panic rush to the bathroom & the Bookworm chasing her with a shining look in her eyes. She lost a tooth two weeks ago but thats another story which she has penned down with a blow-by-blow account as it became part of her school creative writing passage for that week. The Bookworm or I should now call her a fan of the Tooth fairy cleans the tooth and gives the older one clear instructions on how, when & where the tooth should be placed for maximum satisfaction.

At the stroke of midnight, Ms. 10yrs is writing a note to yours truly. I decided I should atleast look at the cute little fang. We spend more time appreciating, reading & studying pre-historic fossil remains - this is just my babies tooth. I remember the excitement of the arrival of little toothy when she was just a year old. Studying the tooth, I had just one thought in mind. Urvi , looking at the color of your tooth, I think the Tooth fairy might be happiest in gifting you with a toothbrush and a paste. Come to think of that, it costs more than the customary $1 . Looks like going forth, the Toothfairy's budget will need an ammendment.

The foot banger!

I always wanted one of my girls to learn Indian classical dance.. heck I have three..there is no harm in hoping at least one of three would entertain that thought and want to learn..
Urvi is so lost in gymnastics.. she lives-breathes-sleeps gymnastics. All I see in my house is my oldest giving gym tips to the other 2 who follow her around like droopy-eyed puppies trying to impress the coach!

Second-in-line is a bookworm. She loves dance, art, gymnastics, swim etc. etc. too... but in her heart she is a true bookworm. Can't complain I am or was one too. Can't forget the number of times my mom called me for lunch/dinner with no response from me or hiding my current fiction in a textbook and being downright happy. I guess I should try by at least enrolling her in Kathak, the highly sought-after and currently fashionable dance form after Bollywood dance ofcourse..thanks to my friends posting on Facebook about Chitresh Dance Academy!

Now we finally come to the little munchkin! She is our very lovable furball but for all the wrong reasons cause she me makes me hug her tight & climb the walls in frustration at the very same time...
Now I mentioned the afore-mentioned activity, namely Kathak, to my oldest who very calmly says you already have a winner as Neya (aka lil Ms. Frustration) is always rubbing her feet and dancing with her feet together in the very same way as Kathak or tap-dance. With a composition based solely on foot-work my little one goes from slow to a stupendously fast tempo ending in a dramatic climax!
Heck..that is exactly what is Kathak..
Looks like I have a new insight into Neya and maybe she is the one who will make Mom's hope a reality!

Neya’s IIIrd birthday

Lalaloopsy
She likes it & I do too..!!
Just dont tend to push my kids in dolly & toy aisles too much
If I bought everything they aspired, my house would be the likes of Walmart, Target or Toys r Us
and the pocket would be negative
Creditors running behind me & forever "karza-bazaari" (i.e. in debt)

Will add more as my thoughts continue

Airline fares, mileage & actual benefits

Spring break is coming up & got me thinking into travel & travel plans..
Is it ever possible to use that so-called mileage we do collect from the various assortment of airlines I have traveled in the last decade & more..
I believe I have the required amount on atleast one-of-those so called "Free " flights.. but have I ever used it ..nope never kaput!
More thinking led to my eureka moment..
Interestingly I have been buying airline fares for my kids for last N number of years. As read by me, kids do not qualify on mileage .. whatever restrictions that they may be. As I see it, infant fares are only for the first 2 years of life. What after .. later its just a measly $100 or so less than what I pay (for international) and none-whatsoever for domestic travel.
So, interestingly, should'nt the mileage benefits be recurred by the parent/ paying party...
I thought mileage is the so called incentive that airlines offer us cattle-class individuals hell-bent on making that journey whether we can afford it or not.
In which case my kids travel miles should be mine all mine.. or rather my poor hard-working husband's. Now that sounds like a good incentive to stick to a particular airline in this Internet-best-price-airline hunt world. And I might actually get to use those bugger miles for some much needed pleasure travel.
I hope some-fast thinking airline CEO actually believes in this idea and helps us poor-debt-ridden parents and award us with some serious vacation benefits.
Interesting thought for me while picking the kids up at valet today !

Random Thoughts...

So I finally decided that I should use this medium to write down my thoughts and give my mind a rest..and maybe Sujit's ears too ...so he does'nt have to listen to my 2 cents worth on sundry topics.
I have felt the need to put my words to paper as else this thought at this moment will be gone forever. This is especially true when I watch the daily antics of my girls..aged quarter to 4 and 18 months respectively. I had once decided I will write about the cute moment of the day..but I failed to do so and lost so many moments had I but jotted them down. Instead of more angst on time gone by, I should keep a heads up policy and look forward to the next day.
